        Saddam Hussein remains as the most popular Muslim figure in the western world. He was the President of Iraq from 1979 to 2003, nearly 25 years.

Saddam Hussein was born on April 28, 1937 in a village near Tikrit, Iraq. At the age of 20, Saddam joined the revolutionary pan-Arab Ba'ath Party. Saddam flew to syria after attempting to assassinate Prime Minister Qassim.

Saddam returned to Iraq in 1964. He was imprisoned by the then anti-Ba'ath government. He escaped the jail. In July 1968, Ba'athists came to power in a coup. Saddam came to power in 1979. He managed his resources with perfection. He developed Iraq in the every major sector including education, agriculture, infrastructure,...

He used his army and brutal forces to suppress, torture and assassinate any one or any group that might act against him. Nearly 3 million people fled Iraq fearing his brutality. Nearly one million people have been killed by him. The two wars he fought Iran-Iraq War (1980�1988) and Persian Gulf War (1991) brought Iraq back to ruins.
