        Dr. William Carlos Williams (sometimes known as WCW), was an American poet closely associated with modernism and Imagism.Modern liberals portray Williams as aligned with liberal democratic and left wing issues; however, as his publications in more politically radical journals like Blast and New Masses suggest, his political commitments were further to the left than the term "liberal" indicates. Williams is more strongly associated with the American Modernist movement in literature, which rejected European influences in poetry in favor of regional dialogues and influences.
